I am an interdisciplinary scientist currently working as a postdoc with Prof. Mason Dean at the City University of Hong Kong. Presently, I am exploring the biomechanics of filter structures in the critically endangered filter-feeding basking sharks. In 2021, I worked as a postdoc with Dr. Shahrouz Amini and Prof. Peter Fratzl at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, studying the nanoscale morphology and mechanics of blue color in ribbontail stingray skin. During my doctoral studies (2017-20), I worked with Prof. Thomas Speck at the Freiburg Botanic Garden, investigating the small-scale biomechanics of plant-insect interactions. I completed my master’s studies in Nanotechnology at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2012-14), and bachelor’s studies in Mechanical Engineering at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur (2005-09) in India. Additionally, I have almost three years of experience as a faculty member at various institutions in India, teaching mechanics and design-oriented subjects. I’ve received multiple awards, including the honor of ‘magna cum laude’ and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher fellowship for my doctoral studies, and an invitation to attend the prestigious 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting.
